GO GO Makers

How we keep children safe

GO GO Makers is committed to ensuring the safety, protection and wellbeing of every child in our care. At face value we want every child to have the best possible experience, and behind that sits a world of detail that we follow to keep every child safe.

We follow best practice guidelines for Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Anti-bullying, which helps us to provide a safe space for children to play, learn, grow, and find their own way.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at GO GO Makers and it is our mission to create an environment where children feel safe, valued and listened to.

Our holiday camps, wraparound care and parties offer a chance for children to unwind, have fun, and let off steam. This is supported by our staff who understand that any concern – no matter how small – must be recorded and reported immediately to the DSL or Deputy DSL.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Emma Canning, who ensures staff are all trained in how to identify children who may be vulnerable and help them in the most appropriate way.

All GO GO Makers staff follow the Safer Recruitment pathway, and attend Safeguarding training as part of their induction.

Parents and Carers can access our full safeguarding policy at camps.

Health and Safety

We hold Health and Safety at the heart of every action – our activities are designed to help children push themselves beyond their usual limits, but in a safe and supportive environment. From protective clothing to detailed risk assessments, we ensure every potential hazard has been identified, and a plan put in place for the safety of all concerned.

Standard ratios are: 1:8 for Reception aged children and 1:14 for Year 1 plus.

Our Health and Safety Policy extends to all adults and parents during their time on site, and as a nut-free club we ensure packed lunches are as healthy as possible (no swapsies!).

Each member of staff follows our Health and Safety policy and is responsible for:

  • Maintaining a safe environment
  • Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others
  • Reporting all accidents and incidents which have caused injury or damage or may do so in the future.
  • Undertaking relevant health and safety training
  • Following our intimate care policy for any toileting or hygiene needs

Our Health and Safety policy is available at all of our camps.

Ofsted Registered Settings

Our holiday club and wraparound care settings are operated in line with Ofsted, giving you reassurance that we deliver our childcare to the highest standard. We have recently been inspected at multiple location and and are delighted to share the positive feedback offered by the inspectors in their reports.

We are very proud of the positive comments inspectors make with regards to our holiday camps, and continuously strive to make even more improvements for our young guests.

Anti-Bullying

Go Go Makers provides a supportive, caring and safe environment in which all children are free from the fear of being bullied. Bullying of any form is not tolerated at GO GO Makers, whether carried out by a child or an adult.

GO GO Makers defines bullying as the repeated harassment of others through emotional, physical, psychological or verbal abuse.

Staff at GO GO Makers will foster an anti-bullying culture in the following ways:

  • Encouraging caring and nurturing behaviour
  • Discussing friendships and encouraging group and team play
  • Encouraging children to report bullying without fear
  • Discussing the issues surrounding bullying with the children, including why bullying behaviour will not be tolerated
  • Exploring the consequences of bullying behaviour with the children.

In all of our settings we aim to prevent bullying in any form. Whenever necessary we identify and respond to any incident of bullying efficiently, and in accordance with our policy – this is made available to parents and carers at all of our camps.
